Holland Basham Architects was retained by Mercy High School to design and provide full architectural services for the addition of an athletic facility and the renovation of the existing auditorium into a Fine Arts Center.

The project included a 500-seat gymnasium, 94-foot basketball court, regulation volleyball courts, weight training room, locker rooms, training room, and athletic offices that overlook the main playing court.

In addition, Holland Basham Architects also provided architectural services for the renovation of Mercy's administrative areaas well as the chemistry, biology, and computer laboratories.  Because of the limited availability of funds, Holland Basham Architects worked closely with the Sisters of Mercy to maximize the effect of the project.

The programming of the administrative area determined that a complete new layout was required. This would allow for a more efficient, economical and functional space.  The design incorporated a new image for the school directly upon entering the facility – openness and security were both integrated successfully without compromise.  The individual spaces were designed with attention to functional relationships, sound isolation, natural lighting, comfortable and efficient furnishings, and personal scale.
