Boys and Girls Clubs / The Salvation Army
Council Bluffs, Iowa

  .

As part of Charles E. Lakin Human Services Campus in Council Bluffs, this $6 million joint facility for Boys and Girls Clubs and The Salvation Army represents a first for the two non-profit organizations. The 41,000 s.f. facility contains both dedicated spaces for each agency and shared common spaces creating unique synergies and efficiencies. A 4,300 s.f chapel / multi-purpose space and nursery signifies the cornerstone within the Salvation Army’s portion of the facility while the Boys and Girls Clubs portion contains almost 6,500 s.f. of open program space for club members. The two organizations share a full-sized gymnasium, a commercial kitchen and a large dining space. The building rests in the center of the Lakin Campus and responds to the campus architecture with two-toned precast concrete panels with brick accents. The building is scheduled for completion in November of 2008.
