The First of its Kind: The UNO Community Engagement Center
The first facility of its kind, the Community Engagement Center was designed to connect the community and the University through service learning. Holland Basham Architects worked with the University of Nebraska-Omaha to design this building to meet the intended needs.
The building, which was completed in April 2014, features offices for non-profit and University partners, collaborative work and meeting spaces, conference rooms and distance learning laboratories. A student/community resource center connects individual students and student groups with local community service or volunteer opportunities. The Community Engagement Center will create a single contact for potential volunteers and the oragnizations that seek them.
